I'm Nuts About Nuts
I just read Alicia's blog and thought to post this comparison table that I've had on my fridge forever. You can click on it for a bigger view. I had to screenshot it in half and piece them together, so sorry about the hack job.
Note that the first horizontal is called Energy, kcal. This is the number of calories in a 3.5 ounce serving. That's by weight not volume, so don't freak out. Chances of one eating a near quarter pound of Pecans in one sitting are not likely, hmmm however Macadamia nuts covered in chocolate, well, let's just say I would never admit it in public.
This list is good for zeroing in on which nut is high in what nutrient. Like Brazil nuts take the prize for Selenium, over 1000 mcg. And Pistachios are the highest in Potassium. Almonds win the Calcium card. Both Hazel nuts and Walnuts are high in Folate. Cashews are not the highest or the lowest in any category, but they still have a special place in heart.
I guess it's safe to say I'm nuts about nuts. What's your favorite?

Peachy Drink
Inspired by popsicles makers and luscious donut peaches, I decided to freeze diced peaches in a glass very much like this one. I mushed them all down to remove air pockets. Stuck the glass in the freezer overnight, and when I came in from the garden today looking for a cool drink, I slightly defrosted the smashed peaches and disked the log. Put them into a small glass and added club soda.
Ta Da! A peach cooler!
Thanks Alicia for the bag of donut peaches. We been feasting on them!
